I am mainly a self taught photographer and 3D artist.  I have learned by researching, reading, and then trying.
I failed a lot,  but also learned a lot.

I started learning photography in junior college in 1970. I took a basic photography class. I took only one photography class at the junior college. I started class with a brownie type film camera, the teacher wasn't happy.  It was a plastic camera with a fixed plastic lens. It had no camera adjustments only a film advance and a button to take the photo. Everyone else in the class was using a 35mm film camera, but I couldn't afford one. However, I did learn to develop black and white film and make prints.

Later on my own, I eventually got a 35mm film camera, than progressed to medium format film camera and started doing model photography.  I loved using
a medium format camera.

In 1982,  I took a year long class in Chicago. I was  learning commercial photography using a 4x5 large format
film camera.

After I left school, I was hooked on large format. I eventually bought my own 4x5 and  8x10 film cameras. Today I use a 4x5 film camera. I now scan the film, edit the file in photoshop, and print my photos digitally up to 13x19 inches. I can also, with the assistance of  a photo lab, make a  very
high quality photo up to 40x60 inches.

During my progress from 1970 to present,  I have done  a lot of photography  for  two model agencies,  an advertising agency, two shoe companies in Chicago,
a New York  stock photo company and  also produced posters for  a custom van company. I  also photographed many models helping them work on their portfolios and adding to my portfolio.
It  never became a full time job, but I did a lot and also learned  a lot.
